Shine On!

Last Saturday I had the absolute pleasure of hanging out and taking pix with one of the most beautiful people I know, inside and out! Jenny's contagious smile is a true reflection of the positive, joyful person she is on the inside. When her smile shines on you, your day becomes that much brighter! To me, Jenny = smiley. :)

We had a blast shooting across from the University of Tampa around sunset. Her energy was awesome...she was ready to try anything! (Plus she was my hero, saving my umbrella, lightstand and flash from taking a suicidal leap off a lofty ledge...THANK YOU, JENNY!) Here are a few of my favorites shots from the evening o' fun. The sun may have set in the end, but Jenny still shines on!

Cheers!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Just a few pix I took this afternoon at my family's Thanksgiving dinner. My immediate family is all out of town this year, so my aunt and uncle took me in for the day. I love my family and am truly blessed to have them in my life! :)

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!

Chase the Light!

Yesterday Jori and I headed out for a photo shoot, but with no particular location in mind...just "something cool/different/interesting/fun." You get the idea!

We ended up in Ybor City on a gorgeous Florida fall afternoon. As the sun started to sink lower in the sky, we took advantage of that great golden glow reflecting off the old brick buildings and got in some great shots. I just love the character of older buildings!

The sun sank lower, and we realized there was some amazing light reflecting off the clouds in the western sky...since by this time we were in the complete shade of the surrounding structures, we started chasing the light! (With a slight detour as I ran back to my car to refill an expired parking meter!) We spotted a parking garage and headed up to the roof. We laughed almost nonstop as we ran across the empty lot, found a good location and got off a few shots before the sun quickly and silently sank below the horizon.

What a great afternoon! Jori wasn't afraid to try anything, from climbing on railings to lying in the middle of the street! Fearless, fun and beautiful, I couldn't have asked for a better model. We'll definitely be going out again!

Until then, I'll keep on chasin' that light!

Cheers!

Party!

Just a few from last night's birthday party! It was a great celebration, I'm so glad I was able to be a part of it! Plus I believe it's hard to find cuter kids than were in attendance. :)

Here's a photo I took this past weekend of my sister after she won her soccer game. I love the fading sunset behind her. Congrats!

Welcome!

Hello, readers, and welcome to the Blue Lane Blog! Wow, I'm so excited! Today my brand spankin' new website went live, and...WAIT! The UPS man just honked his horn outside my house, joy of joys! I just got some more gear in that I've been anxiously awaiting! This day just keeps getting better and better. :)

Back to where I was...today my brand spankin' new website went live and I am thrilled! It's not quite finished, I have yet to write a bit about myself (always a tough thing to do!) and post packages and pricing info. I'll be working on that in the next few days.

So what exactly is Blue Lane? Blue Lane Photography is my budding photography business. It's just a baby, but I see great things for its future! I'll be focusing not only on weddings and engagement sessions, but casual and creative senior portraits, family portraits, and even trash the dress shoots! (I've got my first one coming up this weekend, and I can't wait!! I'll be sure to post my favorites as soon as possible!)

A little about me: I also work as a video editor at a local news station, love to swing dance, crave sushi at least once a week, am training for the Gasparilla half-marathon in Feb, have blue eyes (my inspiration for "Blue Lane"), have a slight obsession with baby pandas, and will one day hike the entire Appalachian Trail.

I'm passionate about photography...it allows me to be creative, explore new things, or new ways of seeing old things, meet interesting people, and to feel a complete sense of accomplishment. I'm so grateful that I've finally realized what I want to do when I grow up!

I always thought of photography as a hobby, but not something that I could make into a career. One day it just hit me, "Why not?" Why couldn't I take something I loved and put all of myself into making it a full-time job, but a job that instead of "work," felt like "play?" So here I am! My dream is becoming a reality, and I can't wait to see where my lane leads...hopefully to cross with yours!

Cheers!
